Student Technician (Placement) Wanted

Position Summary

The student technician is an important part of the Enlightened team, assisting with daily warehouse tasks, helping prepare, run up, and test equipment, and building their own skills to be a more effective technical specialist. This role represents a shared investment; from the student in giving the time and energy to build their own skills, and from Enlightened in giving them the opportunity and training to do so.

This is a fixed term position for either 9 or 12 months starting in Summer 2025. We may ask for proof of your eligibility from your college or University prior to starting.

Our full-time staff have extensive expertise in Lighting, Audio, Rigging, Staging, and AV Equipment. We know how to achieve spectacular results. 

Based in Bristol we are ideally positioned to supply equipment and services across a large section of the UK. 

Tasks & Responsibilities 
  • Prepare equipment for hire / use / sale.
  • Return & Test equipment post hire / use.
  • Follow warehouse procedure and processes
  • Check incoming deliveries against delivery notes and transfer to storage as required.
  • Assist with stock control and asset tracking
  • Load / unload vehicles as required
  • Follow Health & Safety process and contribute to a safe working environment
  • Assist in the maintenance of equipment to as high a standard as practically possible
  • Take bookings and enquiries (including sales) over the counter from customers
  • Provide technical advice and assistance to customers where required
About the candidate

Essential

  • Be attending a college or University course related to our business and able to take a year in industry
  • Some general knowledge of entertainment equipment and/or electrical engineering
  • Willing to learn and follow instructions from others
  • Experience and skilled at problem solving 
  • High standards of work

Desirable

  • Full, clean, UK driving licence
  • Experience working in a live or theatre environment

Employment will be conditional upon a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check (due to our relationships with schools) along with satisfactory references including one from your University or College.

Hours & Location Of Work 

Your time will be mostly spent at Enlightened Head Office in Bristol. You may occasionally be required to work on customer sites. Core hours are Monday to Friday 09.00 to 17.30.

 
You may be required to work overtime or weekends during busy periods (we operate a time off in lieu policy).
