In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDxCorsham is Corsham's strand of TEDx, a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TED Talks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection.

TEDxCorsham began with our first event at The Pound arts centre in January 2018, with an event titled Changing the Rules , we provided an evening of talks from change makers presenting their ideas to encourage a shift or make a difference.

Following on from this, 2019 saw our second event, and this year we decided to go with the theme of So What... This year we hoped to challenge stigmas and understand how and why a rural community should be concerned about global conversations and issues.

We were delighted to bring four fantastic talks to the Corsham audience, as well as a performance from Amber Dee.

  • Dr Jean Boulton - The Path to Localism... A talk on independent High Streets, and how to bring creativity and prosperity to your town.
  • Mia Barlow - 80 Years On, It's Our Turn... A talk to understand the word refugee, and think about how a rural community can play their part, and make a difference to a global crisis.
  • Dr Geoff Brighty - The Plastic Population... A talk on plastics. Why should we care about the oceans and plastic? Surely our plastic from a landlocked county doesn't end up in the ocean.
  • Byron Vincent - Just Because I'm Paranoid, Doesn't Mean That You Aren't All Out To Get Me... An honest talk about Byron's struggle with mental health.

Thank you so much for all your support of TEDxCorsham, it really allowed us to elevate the event, and create a special evening of conversation and ideas in Corsham. It was a vibrant evening and we are looking forward to 2020!
