SS Great Britain: Iron Island

It was a pleasure to be back at SS Great Britain to facilitate the brilliantly creative team at Limbic Cinema with event lighting for the venue’s multimedia projection-mapped event ‘Iron Island”.

The month-long event sought to take the audience on a voyage, bringing the sights and sounds of the ocean back to the ship. The event incorporated immersive 3D visualisations and surround sound with a specially written spoken-word piece by poet Saili Katebe, evoking the rich cultural history that the ships working past encompassed.

Limbic Cinema’s projection-mapped content was as creatively beautiful and imaginatively mapped as ever, incorporating the hull and surrounding surfaces to vividly tell the story of the ship’s past.

Event lighting was controlled by the compact but powerful ETC Nomad 512 + Gadget with our lighting designer utilising Chauvet R1X Washes and Colordash pars, along with OXO Pixyline 150 Wash Battens and haze to light the ship and the surrounding exhibit area
